20.SEPTEMBER.2007

Set out for our beach hike. One of the best hikes I’ve ever done. The hike took about five hours and consisted of some pretty amazing beach views. There was one part of the track where Duga and I crossed a huge cable bridge and spotted a seal playing below. Then we continued on and stopped at beach for lunch. Took in the ocean smell and tried not to get attacked by all the hungry seagulls.

Second part of the track involved a pretty intense mountain climb that felt like the never-ending stair master from hell. Once we arrived in Tonga bay, where we were to meet our water taxi, I saw a seal swim right along the shoreline! It was true movie moment.

Eventually our water taxi (jet boat) came. We jetted past Tonga Island, which is home to a seal reserve. This is truly heaven being surrounded by all these seals!

Rowey picked us up from the water taxi site and drove us back into Motueka. Walked down to the local pub/café where we had some amazing pizza and beer. After our pizza fest we were so wiped we saw our pillows and were gone.

Rock that looked like an elephant..:

How cool is this mom!!:
